This week the Pennsylvania Gaming Control Board has slapped the Presque Isle Downs & Casino $12,500 for violations related to the mishandling of blackjack cards at their site in January.

The casino was fined $10,000 for the violations and $2,500 for investigative costs into the incident. The board discovered multiple violations in how the casino was dealing blackjack from between January 11th and the 13th of this year. One issue was a dealer shuffling cards without a player present to inspect the cards. This was witnessed by a manager and not corrected. The second violation was in relation to dealers not removing the first card from the card shoe.

Regulators claim that the first violation happened once, and the second violation happened sixteen times on table BJ-05.

The PGCB said that the errors allowed the integrity of the games to be compromised and was the basis for the fine.

No comment from the facility was available as of press time.

The Presque Isle Downs Casino opened in 2007 and offers 1,700 slots as well as table games. A racetrack is also available, allowing for a variety of horse races to be offered to patrons.
