How to read the table

  • Soft 17: “Stands” is better for you than “Hits”; it lowers the house edge by about 0.2%.
  • Double after split, surrender and resplit aces: each “Yes” is a player-friendly rule.
  • House edge: the casino’s advantage over a player using perfect basic strategy. Lower is better.
  • Tables: how many tables were spreading that game when the survey was taken.

Casino notes

  • Bellagio: Double-deck minimum sometimes drops to $100 when it is quiet.
  • Cosmopolitan: Shares player data with advantage-player databases. Many reports of over-zealous security.
  • Horseshoe: Formerly Bally's. Blackjack in the high-limit room only.
  • Paris: Six-deck minimum sometimes drops to $50 on slow weekdays.
  • Planet Hollywood: Mid-shoe entry capped at $500 on the low-limit six-deck game.

What’s changed

The Mirage closed in July 2024 and is being rebuilt as a Hard Rock resort, so it is no longer in the survey. Bally’s became Horseshoe in 2022 and now deals blackjack only in its high-limit room. Cromwell and Margaritaville don’t appear in the January 2025 survey.

Source: the Wizard of Vegas blackjack survey (January 2025 data, compiled with BJ21.com). The survey lists 3:2 games only. Most low-limit tables on the Strip now pay 6:5 on a blackjack, which roughly quadruples the house edge, so we leave them out. Rules and minimums change often: check with the casino before you sit down.
